I am an artist from Australia and have been painting for approximately 15 years, previously working in the field of Orthopaedics which initially inspired narratives involving the human form. Using a combination of oils and oil bars for my works, I have recently been painting landscapes. Inspired by the beauty of nature, I feel the importance of retaining a strong connection and respect for our planet.
After studying fine art and visual culture, I realised that often the best way to learn as an artist is through your own experimentation, combining good methodologies in the exploration of ideas. Art creation is very addictive for me and I am always pushing the limits of my skills to continue to evolve as an artist. Every year for the last five years, I have been visiting the Academie de Port Royal to extend and develop a more expressionistic style with Professors who have a lifetime of experience. The most important lesson I learnt to become a great artist, was to paint for myself and to paint from life. These experiences have led me outside of the studio into nature, where I can truly paint what I see and feel. Here is a link for a video of my Professor, Jean-Maxime Relange (who has sadly passed); whose words will always be with me:
Here are a few examples of previous works I have painted from life. I have exhibited many times over the years in group and solo exhibitions, with most of my works held in private and public collections around Australia and France.
